Dooney and Bourke
The hand bag company known as Dooney and Bourke originated in Connecticut back in 1975. The town of Norwalk, which is a fairly largely populated town in Connecticut, is where the company is founded. Dooney and Bourke got its start by being different, taking a chance and going against the crowd. Most people back then enjoyed blacks, browns, whites, grays, and the typical plain colors. Not Dooney and Bourke they wanted something opposite. They went with pinks and purples and greens, colors that popped and made a statement. The materials they are more commonly known for is leather. All of the Dooney and Bourke products have the large D and large B (which obviously stands for the creator’s last names). They produce many different types of hand bags.
Dooney Tote
They have the Dooney Tote, the Dooney Satchel, and the Dooney Croco. The tote is for larger things and is very nice especially when going to the beach or even to the classroom or board room. The satchel which is very similar to a purse (many became familiar with in the 2009 comedy The Hangover) is another fabulous bag. The tote is a little pricier at around $200 dollars and the satchel is more around $150 dollars. The Croco is one of my personal favorites. It is crocodile printed leather and the bags come in every color and size you can possibly think of. The Bourke Dooney croco bag collection averages at about the same price as the rest of the bags which is about $200 dollars as well. If you have never shopped at Dooney and Bourke and you like high end fashion, you will notice Dooney and Bourke prices are extremely reasonable. The lowest item is priced at $20 dollars and the highest is priced at $625 dollars. You have to understand though, for the quality of leather and brand recognition this company has achieved other competitors charge so much more. Dooney and Bourke or Bourke Dooney however you know them as, have way more items then just bags, they carry wallets (both for men as well as women). Also an alternative to the wallet is the wristlet. The wristlet is very practical for a woman who doesn’t feel like carrying around a super heavy purse. For instance going to the bar, to a nice dinner, or really any place where you wouldn’t want to carry a purse. The wristlet is basically a wallet pouch. You can put money, ID, debit and or credit cards, along with a tiny tube of lip gloss or powder for touch ups and the nice thing is, it comes with a strap that you place around your wrist (kind of similar to a bracelet) so you don’t lose it. The wristlets are very cute and way cheaper than the wallets by a lot. The Bourke Dooney company also carries cell phone and IPOD covers as well as many different hand bags that are multi-functional. Dooney and Bourke’s main target market is the working girl next door. She has class, yet priorities. In their most recent campaign they decided to pick young adult women who could help capture their idea and put it to print. They chose some gorgeous women such as Emma Roberts and Mischa Barton to help promote their campaign.

I would like to mention if you are one of the millions of shoppers out there today that shop online, please be careful when making your online purchase. The company has done so many wonderful things and made so many wonderful choices that the company has become so popular. Their brand awareness is everywhere and very recognizable. So to keep up with the demands and to hit other markets, competitors found a niche. They saw women who wanted the high end fashion, but not want to pay the high end prices. So they made copycats or fakes if you will for a far lower price than any Dooney and Bourke product. So sometimes people on the internet try to rip innocent customers off, by posting a picture of an imposter Dooney bag for the price of a real authentic Dooney bag and that is where people get scammed. Just make sure to never buy anything off those auction sites without seeing a picture first, and once you’ve seen the sellers picture please compare it to the actual Dooneys websites pictures. The most common ways to tell if a product is fake or not is to look at the stictching, the material itself, the gold brass materials, as well as the logo.
